How to Grab/Get Movie Clips from a DVD?

Are you a crazy movie fancier? And do you want to collect the most classic movie clips to make a little video with your Windows Movie Maker? If your answers are YES, maybe now you are confused about how to get your favorite movie clips from a DVD. As most of DVD Discs are encrypted, so you can’t extract movies from it directly. What’s more, Windows Movie Maker just support asf, avi, wmv video format, so you have to convert the DVD VOB format to a suitable one.

Step1. Put a DVD disc into DVD Driver. Then import DVD files by clicking “Load DVD” icon.

Step2. Trim clips. Click “Trim” button and wait for a few seconds, then the video edit window shows to you. It contains two preview windows, the up is Original Preview window and the down is Output Preview window. on the left side is the TrimCropEffect  and Watermark function key. you can get the clips with the Trim function as the following two ways:

  1. Hit theTrim tab, then drag the slide bar to anywhere you want to start capturing, and click the left bracket “” to set as start time. And then drag the slide bar to wherever you want to end, hit the right bracket “” to set as end time.
  2. Click the Trim tab. Input the start time and end time that you want to clip into the boxes of Start Time and End Time. When finished, hit the OK button.

TIPS: You can also cropping off size of video play region, adjusting video Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, VolumZoom, adding image/text watermark on the video screen. Step3. Select the target output video format and adjust video parameters. Click the drop-down menu Profile at the lower part of the window, and hit Common Video button and choose the best output format which is suitable to your Windows Movie Maker.

If you hope the videos are mute, you can hit "Settings" button , and remove the tick before the Include Audio, and click the OK button. Just like the picture below.

Step 4: Begin to convert. Hit the "Start" button to start converting. After it is finished, you can transfer the ripped DVD movie clips to your Windows Movie Maker.
