As a big DVD lover, I am often studying on DVD research and test, recently I do a test about DVD burn to help DVD burn lovers making a right choice of buying DVD optical disc. Many people think that there is litter difference for between DVD+R and DVD-R, even some people think that DVD-R disc has better compatibility, or DVD-R is good for video burning as well as DVD+R works better on data storage.
To test this, I bought two DVD-burner (DVD-burner with same brand and same model and in order to express convenience, here i named them A and B separately ), 100 DVD+R discs and 100 DVD-R discs and with them I made two tests:
Test #1: Use DVD-burner (A) to burn a video to 50 DVD+R discs (Burn the same video to 50 blank DVD+R discs) and Use DVD-burner (B) to burn the same video to 50 blank DVD-R discs (Burn the same video to 50 blank DVD+R discs).
Test #2: DVD-burner (A) to burn a PS3 game to 50 DVD+R discs (Burn the same game to 50 blank DVD+R discs) and Use DVD-burner (B) to burn the same game to 50 blank DVD-R discs (Burn the same game to 50 blank DVD+R discs).
During the test, I found that DVD-burner (A) began to prompt “Burn failure”, power calibration error” and some other error as well as DVD-Burner (B) work well all the time. I put the burned DVD disc (one is DVD+R and the other is DVD-R) to ten different DVD players for watching, and found that the DVD-R disc was easier to be played normally.
#1: DVD+R disc enables cause DVD-burner to accelerate aging.
#2: DVD-R disc has a better compatibility than DVD+R disc, and either burn videos to DVD or data, DVD-R is the choice!
Generally speaking, DVD-R disc works better on DVD burning than DVD+R, and it is a wrong that DVD-R is good for video burning as well as DVD+R works better on data storage . All in all, if you wanna burn a DVD, my advice is DVD-R disc. That’s all!
