Because of the performance improvements, security enhancements, and improved support for touchscreen devices, Windows 8 functions much better than its predecessors. Thus, many people can’t wait to upgrade their PC to Windows 8 after its release. However, Windows 8’s media player doesn’t support DVD playback. If you want to play DVD in Windows 8, you can convert DVD to Windows Media Player compatible formats, such as MP4, WMV, etc. with some sort of DVD ripping tool.

As Windows 8 is quite new, some of these DVD ripping software may not be compatible with it. So you should be careful to choose such software. I have tested five of them, Handbrake, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, DVDFab, and Aimersoft DVD Ripper. Some are totally free, but they can’t be compatible with Windows 8. DVDFab and Aimersoft DVD Ripper work quite well, the conversion speed of them are both very high, and they all keep the original quality maximally. They are quite similar, but DVD Fab is more expensive and you have to re-license every year. So I believe Aimersoft DVD Ripper is the best Windows DVD ripper.

Following the easy steps below to rip DVD in Windows 8 for playback:

Step1.Click here to down Aimersoft DVD Ripper install and launch the program after inserting DVD disc. Then hit “Load DVD” icon to import DVD files.

Step2. Extend the pull-down menu “Profile” to select output profile.
There are over 40 video and audio conversion profile for you to choose. You also can produce your own output quality by changing the bit rate, video size, etc. by clicking “Setting” button.

Step3. Start conversion by hitting “Start” icon. Wait until it finishes, then you can play back the ripped DVD video on Windows 8. It’s a piece of cake, isn’t it?
